What is the purpose or mission of the Volunteer Services Council?
The Volunteer Services Council is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which provides financial support and resources that benefit patients served at the State Hospital and State Supported Living Centers. Through financial contributions, volunteerism, and other avenues of support, the Volunteer Services Council at Waco Center for Youth is committed to enriching the lives of Texas adolescent youth struggling with mental and behavioral health issues.
What is the Waco Center for Youth?
Waco Center for Youth is a residential treatment facility that serves teenagers, ages 13 through 17, who are experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties. Patients are referred to Waco Center for Youth through local mental health authorities from throughout the state of Texas.
How do I volunteer at Waco Center for Youth?
The first step to volunteering is filling out an online volunteer application. You can find instructions here. To go straight to the application, please click here. After you fill out your application, it will get sent to the Community Relations Department at Waco Center for Youth and someone will reach out regarding volunteer trainings and orientation.
What are the requirements to volunteer?
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers are required to complete an online volunteer orientation training and other various trainings conducted by WCY staff. Volunteers will also submit their information for a fingerprint and background check, as well as a CANRS (Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting System) check.
Do I need to be vaccinated to volunteer?
Yes. Volunteers will need to have their current flu vaccinations. Volunteers will also need to have a TB test. Volunteers will need to show proof of vaccination and a copy will be kept on file.
How can I make a donation to Waco Center for Youth?
There are multiple ways donations can be made to WCY. Monetary donations can be made via PayPal here or can be mailed to the following address:

WCY also has a unique incentive program for the clients where they can purchase therapeutic items through points earned for good behavior. These points are known as "stars." Donations of new clothing are another great way to support the clients! Visit our page on The CeNTER to learn more!
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! The Volunteer Services Council is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our EIN (Employer Identification Number) is 74-2217040. Employer Identification Number is used tax reporting purposes. Does the Volunteer Services Council have anything to do with client admissions?
